This 2009 Beck Spyder was factory built to a deluxe body package and finished off by James Cox of European Imports now in Burnet, TX(formerly Austin, TX). James is a 30 yr Porsche/VW specialist with a passion for aircooled Porsches, and a great track record in everything from standard Porsche service to track car fabrication, and technical publications in everything from Windblown (PCA) to Excellence.
This Spyder was carefully planned and executed with the best parts in mind.
The 1976 Porsche 914 2.0L was built especially for this car. It was punched out to 2.2L and produces approximately 180hp and 200ft/lbs torque. It will throw you back in your seat, yet is smooth enough to cruise in a parade...
Only the best internal parts were considered for the engine build... lightened/balanced rods, 96mm pistons, big stainless steel valves, a streetable cam, hardened lifters, Raby DTM upright cooling, digital alternator, Mallory electronic distributor, genuine Italian Weber carburetors, matched velocity stacks, K&N filter elements, lightened flywheel, stage 2 KEP pressure plate. Everything has been balanced and the engine has been properly tuned in the car.
Exhaust is completely custom fabricated for this engine and keeps the Spyder style of a 4:2:1 with a center exit (stainless tip). The entire exhaust system (sans stainless tip) was ceramic coated for better temperature control and protection from the elements.
Transaxle is a Rancho Pro-Street, spec built for this specific combination. Close ratio 1st-3rd with a freeway flier 4th gear, plus all the Rancho "goodies" for this type of power (super diff, welded 3rd/4th, HD cross shaft, HD shift fork, etc)
This car features genuine Porsche 986 cross drilled/vented front brakes with 4 piston OEM Brembo calipers, and Porsche 986 genuine cross drilled/vented rear brakes with inboard e-brake and OEM Brembo 2 piston calipers.
All braided stainless steel brake hoses.
Wheels are Porsche turbo twists (17x8) wrapped in new Continental Sport Contitrack tires (245/45/17) Matched on all four corners for easy rotation.
Genuine Porsche space saver spare.
Vintage Koni "silver" low pressure gas shocks on all 4 corners
Top and side curtains are brand new and still factory wrapped in the nose of the car.
Not only does this Spyder pull like a freight train, it stops on a dime!
